Barna Research
Hey guys,
I was researching something and came across these articles. I thought they were interesting, so check them out if you want. Of course, they are based on research on Americans, so they cannot be translated completely into another culture, but they still provide much insight:

P.S. Joe - this is the website where we got a lot of our research that we took the Elders through when we did the demographic studies we were telling you about. If you click on Barna Updates and then on "All Updates," you can browse through topics and print off any that you think are relevant. If you already knew all of this, I apologize for insulting your intelligence. :-)

Thanks for the links. I sent them to Keehner (northview's senior minister) as well. This paragraph made me think:
Barna also cited earlier research he had described in his book, Grow Your Church From the Outside In, which showed the unchurched have a different set of objectives when they return to a church than many church leaders might expect. “These people tend to be less turned on by the music or preaching than by a sense of God’s presence – even though they don’t quite know how to explain or understand it – and by the feeling that they are visiting a group of people who are a genuine community of loving and accepting individuals. We found that the sermon has less to do with their return to a church than their emotional experience with God and the people gathered.”
I would venture to say that this statistic would be amplified in the NZ culture due to their great need for a genuine faith atmosphere.
